Building With A Mission

Fluvanna Home #29

The Houchens Place community has added one more home and in the very near future, one more Partner Family will be moving in! We once again partnered with Cardinal Homes, a home construction company that built and delivered the home in March. Cardinal Homes provide a 5% discount to all Virginia Habitat for Humanity affiliates. Dan Shores Construction set the home on the foundation. Using a combination of modular building and our dedicated Rusty Nailz volunteers, this home has been built in half the time a stick built home takes. The home includes 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a laundry room and an open kitchen/living area. A total of 23 volunteers finished the interior and exterior roofing/siding, built the porch and deck in 12 days. Appliances were donated in part by Whirlpool. A true partnership to make homes happen.

FAITH PARTNERS

Faith Partners are a cornerstone as we serve the Fluvanna Community. Through prayer, contributions and volunteer support, we are certainly grateful for the many churches who collaborate with us. Tammy Bowers is our Board Liaison, and we thank her for keeping connections happening.

Welcoming New Executive Director

We are pleased to announce Ashley Boschen as the new Executive Director. With a background in non-profit ministries, Ashley comes to Habitat with a heart for Jesus and a love for people. She has served in various roles within churches as an ordained minister and other nonprofits to care for communities. Since moving to Fluvanna County with her family in June of 2023 for her husband’s role as Pastor of Effort Church, Ashley has been investing in her ministry to her three boys. She is excited about being rooted here in Fluvanna and for this opportunity to serve our community.

Our outgoing Executive Director, Robyn Bolling, will be continuing her investment as President of our Board of Directors. We are grateful her impact and presence will continue!

We cannot do it without your partnership! Thank you for being a part of our mission!

Thank you to every person that has helped with the build, landscaping, donations, financial classes, and that have prayed for me, my children and this home. We appreciate and love you for all you have done and continue to do!” ~AH
