Fluvanna Habitat is one of the few non-profit organizations in Fluvanna County that are NAP qualified.

This means that you can donate more and pay less. As of July 1st, when you donate to Fluvanna Habitat (a minimum of $500), 65% of that donation could come back to you in Virginia State Tax Credits.  Therefore, for a donation of $500 you could receive $325 in Virginia State Tax Credits.  This means that your out of pocket expense for the donation is only $175.  It is important to note that this money comes back as a credit and not a deduction.  Businesses and trusts also qualify under NAP, however the minimums are different.

Credits are awarded on a first come first served basis.  Once we are out of our allotted credits, there is no guarantee that we will be issued more.  Therefore, donate early!

To utilize the program, a donor must fill out a very simple half page form to be sent in with their check.  Fluvanna Habitat fills out the rest of the form, sends it, along with a copy of the check, to the Virginia Department of Social Services, and within 6-8 weeks the donor receives a certificate for their tax credits directly from the state.  It is a very easy program to use, and the benefits to Fluvanna Habitat are enormous.  If you normally donate $200, this year you could donate $500 and pay less out of pocket than that $200 donation.
