2024 Fluvanna Habitat Golf Tournament Registration Form

Note: Due to a significant increase in tournament costs, our registration fee has been increased to $125. To mitigate this additional cost to players, we have included many of the popular add-ons in the registration fee. Lunch and a drink ticket (beer/wine) is also included.

Gearing Up for our April 2024 Spring Home Build

Plans are underway for Fluvanna Habitat Home #29! This home will be constructed in phase 2 of the Houchens Place subdivision. Every home we build includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a front porch, a back deck, conditioned crawl space and a storage shed.

Home Repair Program – RESTARTING!

After 5 years of being paused, we have finally secured funding to restart our Home Repair Program in early summer 2024. We will be using a combination of local contractors & volunteers to scope, prepare and execute small projects. As we begin, we will be focusing ONLY on repairs for seniors and/or veterans who cannot safely access their home (e.g. repairing/replacing front porch steps, installing hand railings, assisting with access ramp installation, etc.). We are partnering with Fluvanna Meals on Wheels and the Fluvanna/Lousia Housing Foundation.

Funding for the program is possible in thanks to annual donations from individuals in our community and a generous grant from

December 2023 Update

Welcome New Family Partners!

Our Fall application process was a huge success! We are in the process of welcoming our newest group of Family Partners to our Fluvanna Habitat family. Families will work closely with us participating in required Homeownership & Financial Literacy courses and beginning “sweat equity” hours. Thanks to our volunteer committee who are dedicating many, many hours to this process.

Check back for registration information.

Grant Awards

Grant funding is vital to continuing our homebuilding and repair programs. We are incredible grateful for grants we have recently received.

June 2023 Update!

Golf Tournament Goal Crushed!

Thanks to the leadership of Judy Kordella, Tourney Chair, a committed team of volunteers, sponsors, donors and players, we exceeded our annual goal!  The sold-out tourney raside $20,000 for our mission.  We are greatful!  Lake Monticello Golf Course hosted this event and catering was provided by The Golf Pub.  Cadets from Fork Union Military Academy gifted their assistance with golf bag drop off.  In addition to many local businesses and individual donors, we had serveral tournament sponsors who made success possible.  Presenting Sponsors: Paul & Diane Schmidt, Flow Automotive (formerly Umansky), S&N Communications, Tenaska VA Generation Station, Pepsi and AKF Engineers.  Food Sponsor – Virginia Housing.  Putting Green Sponsor – D.E. Himberger Consulting.  Driving Range – Tucker, Gifffin, Barnes; Grand Prize Sponsors – Kings Mill Resort, D.E. Himberger Consulting & Southern Development.

Introducing Fluvanna Habitat Home #28

Our first modular home is almost ready for a new Partner Family! This new home also marks the phase 1 completion of the Houchens Place neighborhood. Our dedicated Rusty Nailz volunteer team did a skillful job executing the inside/outside construction, painting and landscaping. Contractors are currently wrapping up their specialized work while our future homeowners are completing the USDA low-interest mortgage progress. Before the home closes, we will open it up so donors, volunteers and community members can take a peek at how our non-profit fulfills our mission and goals. Come to an Open House or schedule a personal/group tour with Director, Robyn Bolling by sending her an email at fluvannahabitatdirector@outlook.com

April 2023 Update!

Houchens Place Update:

  • The Spring 2023 home build will complete Phase 1 of the Houchens Place Community!
  • VDOT has taken ownership of Charney Way, the one road in the community. This has been quite a process and VDOT along with Fluvanna County has added guidance and support along the way.
  • The Garden Nursery in Fluvanna, donated over 50 trees and shrubs to homeowners in Houchens Place. What a “tree-mendous” gift this was! Should you purchase Spring plants from the Garden Nursery this year, give them one more “THANKS”!
  • Tammy Bowers, Fluvanna Habitat Board Member and Secretary, will be building a new entrance sign for Houchens Place this spring along with Doug Himberger, Board Member.

Spring Build Update:

We are trying something new this time – modular construction! Modular results in a permanent structure, NOT a mobile home. The modular company was able to meet our specifications in terms of rooms, baths, etc. The cost is coming in very similar to a stick built home, and maybe even less. The win-win is that we can continue to engage our volunteers as much will still be required inside and outside the home including the building of a front porch, sidewalks and a back deck. Following the build, we will determine if modular construction is a viable option for us as we complete the Houchens Place Community. Here are a few pictures of the new home:

New Website:

Like our new website?? HUGE thanks to Charlie Hall who donated his time and talents to make this possible!

Golf Tournament – April 22, 2023

We are gearing up for our one annual fundraiser, our golf tournament. Last year, the tournament brought us $17,000 that offset the cost of our Spring 2022 home. WOW!!

Grant Funding

We were granted funds by the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission to pay for building materials for the next four homes we build. This funding will reduce the overall cost of home to our partner families by $20,000.

Did You Know?

We do not give away our homes – we sell them at cost to those families who have qualified for our program AND served the required 100+ “Sweat Equity” hours in financial literacy and homeownership classes. They are each very hard-working and must have an income stream to qualify.

Interested in a tour of Houchens Place?

Our Executive Director, Robyn Bolling, is willing to meet individuals or groups at Houchens Place for a tour and Q&A. If you are interested in this, you can contact her directly at fluvannahabitatdirector@outlook.com or call the Fluvanna Habitat office at 434-589-3752 to set up a date and time.
